The Camdenton JV and Varsity Wiinter Guards started competition in Ozark, Mo on Saturday, February 11. Winter guard competitions provide an opportunity to see the talented color guard up close in a gym rather than on the 100 yard football field canvas that they over-take during marching season. The winter guard season also allows band members who want to play their instruments in the marching band to try color guard during the spring.
This year's JV show title is Tomorrow Comes featuring the song Flashlight, written by Jessie J. Current and past varsity guard members, Lizzie Bridges, Erin Wilde, and Lauren Risner along with guard coaches, Kayla Paterson and Chris Garstang, choreographed the show. By assisting with show choreography, the varsity members expand their knowledge and leadership skills. JV finished fourth in their division at Ozark. The varsity show features the song Halo, written by Ryan Tedder and Evan "Kidd" Bogart. The show was designed by Scott Toosley along with Chris Garstang, Kayla Paterson, Lauren Risner, Tim Roettgen, and Paul Baur. The varsity moved up to a higher division during the 2016 season and moved up another division this season to compete against larger schools and more seasoned winter guard programs. Varsity finished third in their division at Ozark. Information provided by Bobbie Bridges, the winter guard one-woman chuckwagon crew.
