Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions
The Marching Band relies on volunteer support to ensure a wonderful student experience. Volunteering is a great way to meet other families, have fun, and support this special high school experience.
Please consider volunteering at 3 events - many hands make light work!
Summer Band Camp
- Help provide water, snacks, and general first aid for the band and guard during summer band camp. This committee coordinates getting snacks, water, & Gatorade ready for breaks and serving the students.
- Can also help serve food during the Wednesday Family Lunches.
Uniform Fitting
- Help students fit uniforms during band camp.
- Volunteers will help size and fit the band students into appropriate-sized uniforms to maintain a consistent look across the band. The uniforms have built-in adjustment snaps on pants and jacket sleeves, but minor alterations, light pressing or ironing, and spot cleaning can be a regular part of the job.
Props
- Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment and working with the director to plan, design, and build show props.
Saturday Fall Camp
- Organize & feed the band meals during Saturday fall camps or help bake or bring treats for the band.
- Help provide water and general first aid for the band and guard during Saturday fall camp rehearsals. This committee coordinates getting water to and from the field.
Weeknight Rehearsals
- Help provide water and general first aid for the band and guard during weeknight rehearsals. This committee coordinates getting water to and from the field.
Chuckwagon Food Prep
- Help prep and pack food in coolers and on the chuckwagon for marching band competition meals the next day
Amphitheater
- Check IDs and provide wristbands to concert-goers
- Must be 21+
- Gain free entry to concert you work
- Applies to workers only - no younger tag-a-longs
- Volunteers earn $10 per hour in booster credits towards student band fees
Football & Fall/Spring LOSA Concessions
- The Band Boosters are given an opportunity to earn funds for the band program by providing volunteers to run the concession stand during the middle school, freshman, JV and varsity football games as well as fall and spring LOSA soccer concessions.
- Volunteer duties could include:
- Set up & clean up of concession stand before & after game
- Cooking food
- Prepping & serving food and drinks
- Running a cash register
- Must be middle school age or older
- Volunteer time may be divided into shifts based on manager approval.
- Volunteers earn $10 per hour in booster credit towards student band fees
Marching Band Competition Chaperones
- Help with chaperoning the band on bus trips to competitions. Also, help the band get ready to march, pass out food & drinks, move props, and supervise students.
- Must be in good physical health as there is usually a lot of walking required.
- Must have an MOHP Background check and Volunteer Form on file at the Central Administration Office.
Other Events (Under the Lights, Band Banquet, Swingin' Sweets)
- Help with decorations, set up, & clean up of Under the Lights, the Marching Band Banquet, and Swingin' Sweets.
